Job Description

The Reach Forklift Operator safely operates industrial trucks to move, locate, stack, and record materials within a warehouse and distribution center environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. The position is primarily equipment-based, with approximately 90% of the time spent operating a reach forklift.

Responsibilities

• Operate a reach forklift safely and efficiently to move, locate, stack, and retrieve materials throughout the warehouse and distribution center.
• Handle materials accurately and securely to prevent damage and ensure product integrity during movement and storage.
• Support general labor tasks as needed, including loading, unloading, picking, packing, and basic material handling.
• Use warehouse equipment such as RF scanners to locate, track, and record inventory when required.
• Work productively in a fast-paced distribution environment while meeting performance and accuracy expectations.
• Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and best practices when operating forklifts and working in the facility.
• Assist with inventory-related tasks such as counting, organizing, and maintaining orderly storage areas when requested.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain an efficient workflow across the warehouse.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including equipment and surrounding storage zones.
• Perform basic equipment checks and report any issues or safety concerns promptly.

Essential Skills

• At least 3+ years of hands-on reach forklift operating experience.
• Proven experience working in a distribution center (DC) or similar warehouse distribution environment.
• Strong material handling skills, including moving, stacking, and organizing products safely and efficiently.
• Proficiency operating reach forklifts and reach trucks in a busy warehouse setting.
• Previous experience in a distribution warehouse environment.
• Counterbalance forklift experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with picking and packing orders.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and warehouse procedures consistently.
• Capability to perform general labor tasks in addition to forklift operation when needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• External forklift license or certification is a strong asset.
• Experience with inventory processes such as counting, tracking, and organizing stock
• Experience with stand-up forklifts.
• Familiarity with RF scanners for picking, tracking, and inventory control.
• Previous experience with packing and order preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling and recording materials.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and client needs within the warehouse schedule.

Work Environment

This position is based in a large, clean distribution facility that ramps up activity during the spring and continues at a high pace through the end of the year. The workday follows a first-shift schedule, typically running from 9:30 . to 6:00 . or 9:00 . to 6:30 ., depending on operational needs. You will spend most of your time operating reach forklifts and other warehouse equipment, working in a fast-paced environment that requires focus, coordination, and adherence to safety standards. The facility emphasizes organized workflows, clear procedures, and collaboration among team members to keep operations running smoothly from Monday through the workweek.

This is a Contract position based out of Woodbridge, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.35 - $23.75/hr.
