Position Title : Soil Operations Superintendent
Employment Type : Permanent, Full-time
Compensation : 100,000.00 to 110,000.00 per year + discretionary annual target bonus at 12.5% up to a maximum of 18.75% of your base pay
Position Summary Dufferin Aggregates is hiring a Soil Operations Superintendent to lead and grow our Soil Management line of business across Ontario. Reporting to the Manager, Soil Canada, this role is responsible for safely and efficiently managing excess soil importation while supporting site rehabilitation and long-term sustainability. You’ll work closely with Operations, Commercial, and Environmental teams to turn complex regulations and site constraints into practical, value‑driven solutions.
Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day soil management across the Dufferin Aggregates operations, including placement, tracking, stockpiling, and testing at receiving sites
Manage budgets, subcontractors, and logistics by monitoring trucking, disposal, and testing costs against targets
Supervise and develop employees within the Soil Management business
Review customer environmental documentation and determine suitability for soil importation
Ensure excess soil quality‑control requirements are met at both source and receiving sites
Support growth by helping permit new soil importation sites and collaborating with Commercial and Operations teams to maximize capacity
Requirements
Minimum seven years of experience in excess soil management, ideally within aggregates, construction, or receiving-site operations
Strong working knowledge of Ontario excess soil legislation and environmental compliance requirements
Experience interpreting soil analytical data and working with environmental consultants
Understanding of heavy equipment and earthworks in active construction environments
Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and solve problems independently
Valid Ontario driver’s license and ability to travel between project sites
Education in geology, engineering, or civil/environmental technology is considered an asset.
