Job description
Welcome to a place where people are at the heart of everything we do.

Welcome to people with an inspiring vision and who seek stimulating challenges. At CIMA+, you’ll find a place where you’ll have many opportunities to learn and develop while working on engaging projects.

We are a firm 100% owned by its employees and we value a collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset. You will have the flexibility to manage your work on your own terms and define what work-life balance means to you.

When you join CIMA+, we welcome you to a place that you can call home.

Job Description CIMA+’s Buildings team is recognized across Canada for designing high-quality, energy-efficient, and resilient buildings that prioritize occupant comfort and long-term performance. Our portfolio includes award-winning projects and some of the country’s most complex high-performance buildings. To continue delivering exceptional value to our clients, we have established a national team of sustainability specialists dedicated to supporting high-performance and low-carbon projects across Canada.

We are seeking a Building Sustainability, Ontario Market Lead to grow and lead our sustainability advisory practice in Ontario. This role is primarily client facing and market focused, with accountability for building relationships, shaping opportunities, leading pursuits, and positioning CIMA+ as a trusted advisor for building performance, decarbonization, and resilience strategies. The role works closely with our Ontario Buildings leadership and our national sustainability team to convert market demand into scalable services and consistent delivery and will collaborate closely with national sustainability leads and regional sustainability leads across Canada to align strategy, share expertise, and scale delivery.

The successful candidate brings a strong Ontario client network, proven business development capability, excellent facilitation and communication skills, and enough technical depth to lead executive level conversations and guide multidisciplinary teams toward measurable outcomes. This role can be based in our Toronto, Mississauga, Markham or Bowmanville offices in a hybrid model (2 days /week in the office).

Key responsibilities Ontario growth and client leadership

Own the Ontario market growth plan for building sustainability services and deliver annual sales targets

Build and maintain senior level client relationships across developers, owners, institutions, utilities and public sector clients

Identify and qualify opportunities, lead pursuit strategy, and direct proposal development in collaboration with internal teams

Lead client meetings and executive presentations that connect technical solutions to value, risk reduction, and return on investment

Represent CIMA+ through industry presence, speaking opportunities, partner relationships, and targeted thought leadership

National and cross regional collaboration

Work closely with national sustainability leads and regional sustainability leads to align service offerings, share best practices and coordinate delivery

Partner with other regions to support multi market clients and pursue national opportunities with consistent positioning and technical approach

Contribute to national practice development, including tools, templates, quality standards, and knowledge sharing

Advisory and technical leadership

Provide strategic direction and senior oversight for building performance analysis, operational carbon, and decarbonization roadmaps for new and existing buildings

Guide project teams on energy and carbon targets, EUI strategy, electrification pathways and retrofit prioritization

Provide senior review of energy modeling and GHG analysis approaches for alignment with NECB, Ontario requirements and project goals

Lead advisory conversations on whole building life cycle assessment, embodied carbon reduction and life cycle cost considerations

Support climate risk, vulnerability and resilience assessments and help clients translate findings into actionable measures

Practice, team, and quality leadership

Lead, mentor, and grow the Ontario sustainability team, including recruitment and capability development

Coordinate resourcing with the national sustainability team to scale delivery without being the day‑to‑day modeler on every project

Establish service offerings, templates, quality processes, and consistent client deliverables for Ontario pursuits and projects

Facilitate integrated design workshops and stakeholder alignment sessions to maintain momentum from early design through delivery

Partner with mechanical, electrical, architectural, and planning teams to embed sustainability into project strategy and client narratives

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in building engineering, building science, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline

10 plus years of progressive experience in building sustainability consulting, with clear evidence of client leadership and practice growth

Experience managing projects pursuing green building certifications like LEED, WELL or Zero Carbon is a must

Demonstrated success leading pursuits, building pipelines and converting relationships into secured work

Strong Ontario market network and the ability to build credibility with senior decision makers

Working knowledge of energy modeling tools and sustainability platforms such as EnergyPlus, IES VE, eQUEST and LCA software such as One Click LCA, with the ability to direct and review technical work produced by others

Strong understanding of sustainable development, energy efficient systems, carbon accounting, and incentive or funding programs

Professional accreditations such as LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, Envision SP, or equivalent are strongly preferred

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to translate technical topics into clear business decisions

Why join CIMA+

Work with a national platform delivering award-winning high-performance buildings across Canada

Join an employee‑owned firm that values collaboration, entrepreneurship and sustainability leadership

Build and lead a growing Ontario practice with strong support from a national team of specialists

Flexible work arrangements and strong opportunities for professional growth and leadership
