Job descriptionJob Overview This position provides a key leadership role in enhancing health and safety in the workplace through the development, implementation, delivery, evaluation and engagement of employees in injury prevention and health promotion strategies. It provides consultative support to company executives, management, safety personnel and front‑line employees in The Redpath Americas Group on all health, safety and training related matters, teaches, coaches, researches, develops, distributes and continuously improves companywide injury prevention and loss control programs, training and promotional materials, reports on the status of health and safety systems and site safety performance, and performs significant functions in the development of global safety and training initiatives in collaboration with management from other Redpath business units.

Has the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
Follow Company health and safety standards and reports any unsafe acts or conditions
Responsible for the use of all safety equipment according to Company rules and applicable legislation and ensures the proper use of personal protective equipment
General
Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of Health & Safety programs across Redpath Americas
Monitor compliance with internal programs and applicable health and safety legislation
Develop and support safety initiatives, audits, reporting, and performance metrics
Oversee incident reporting and investigations, including regulatory communications as required
Support safety leadership by guiding, mentoring, and ensuring access to appropriate training and resources
Provide input into the selection, development, and performance of safety personnel
Lead safety system and software implementations and support continuous improvement efforts
Facilitate and support safety meetings, kick‑offs, presentations, and safety events
Contribute to policy, procedure, and training material development and updates
Represent the Safety function internally and externally with clients, regulators, and industry groups
Stay informed of industry trends and legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance and best practices
Qualifications Education Required: High School Diploma with experience in mining, health and safety or Diploma/Certificate in Safety, Occupational Health or related field.
Preferred: Degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or related field.
Member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP).
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation (or actively working toward certification).
Work Experience Required: 10 years’ experience in mining health and safety capacity.
Preferred: 10-15 years’ experience in mining with corporate HSE experience, development of health, safety, training programs and procedures.
Prior experience as a miner considered an asset.
