Job Description

As part of our continued growth, AECOM is seeking a Technical Lead, Drinking Water Treatment Engineer to provide technical leadership within our BC Water Team . Based in any of our three BC offices, this role offers the opportunity to shape and lead complex water treatment solutions that support safe, resilient, and sustainable communities across the province.

This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer who enjoys being a go-to expert , mentoring others, and advancing innovative water treatment approaches while ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the modeling and simulation of drinking water treatment processes, utilizing advanced computational tools and techniques.

  • Ensure designs comply with all applicable environmental regulations and standards.

  • Conduct assessments and identify areas for improvement in existing water treatment systems.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement innovative water treatment solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and project staff.

  • Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and documentation for regulatory submissions.

  • Engage with stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, clients, and community members, to discuss project developments and compliance matters.

  • Assist with the planning and pursuit of new business opportunities.

  • Uses creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems.

  • Provides visible industry and technical leadership within and outside of AECOM.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education in drinking water treatment engineering, with a focus on developing client focused solutions while achieving modeling and regulatory compliance.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of BC (or eligible to become registered within 12 months).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 20+ years of experience in drinking water treatment engineering, with a focus on developing client focused solutions while achieving modeling and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong knowledge of water quality standards, treatment processes, and environmental regulations.

  • Experience understanding client challenges and developing practical engineering solutions.

  • Master's degree in related field or demonstrated experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of water treatment processes, technologies, and industry best practices.

  • Expertise in water treatment modeling software and data analysis tools.

  • Strong understanding of local, provincial, and federal regulations related to water treatment and quality.

  • AWWA certifications or other relevant water treatment specialties preferred.

  • Travel as needed for project site visits and client meetings.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $170000 to $240000.
