Director of Project Controls

The Project Controls Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing the planning/scheduling and budget cost controls within the division.

Location(s) of work: 5700 Explorer Drive Suite 400 Ontario L4W 0C6 Canada. May be required to travel to worksite locations across Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee large-scale construction operations and establish policies for the division.
  • Oversee and manage nuclear decommissioning projects with full accountability for cost schedule scope and overall project performance.
  • Allocate resources establish and enforce project controls governance frameworks and reporting structures to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Approve and manage project budgets expenditures and financial forecasts ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Lead contract strategy review and approve change orders and negotiate with contractors to optimize project outcomes and control costs.
  • Provide executive-level reporting to senior leadership on project performance risks and strategic direction.
  • Oversee the development and execution of Project Execution Plans ensuring alignment across engineering construction and operations teams.
  • Direct project planning scheduling and resource allocation activities to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional teams including project managers engineers contractors and consultants to achieve project objectives.
  • Establish risk management frameworks make final decisions on risk mitigation strategies and ensure effective issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project delivery systems processes and performance metrics.
  • Represent the company as well as develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners including clients contractors and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) standards promoting a strong safety culture across all project activities.
  • Provide leadership mentorship and performance oversight to project teams and project controls personnel.

What We Are Looking For

Required Skills:

  • 10 years of active relevant and applicable experience in the construction industry
  • Experience and ability to use the following:
    • Cost Control Systems and Applications
    • Planning and scheduling tools
    • Risk Assessment and reporting tools
    • Document Control Systems
  • Experience with nuclear and nuclear decommissioning projects

Required Education:

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Project Management Administrative Management Engineering or a related field.
