Job descriptionResponsibilities
Contribute to planning and executing geotechnical field investigations, including boreholes, test pits, and in-situ testing for transportation, municipal, industrial, and environmental projects.
Assist in interpreting soil, rock, and groundwater conditions and translate findings into clear, practical design recommendations.
Support the development of geotechnical design solutions for foundations, earthworks, slopes, retaining structures, and buried infrastructure to keep people and communities safe.
Prepare concise, data‑driven technical memoranda and reports that inform client decisions on scope, schedule, and investment.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (environmental, structural, transportation, water, and more) to integrate ground engineering into larger project designs.
Help advance sustainable design practices by considering constructability, materials, and long‑term performance in geotechnical solutions.
Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem‑solving discussions, bringing an EIT perspective and curiosity to every challenge.
Qualifications
Degree in civil, geological, or geotechnical engineering and registered or eligible to register as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) with a Canadian engineering association.
Valid Canadian driver’s license, access to vehicle, clean driver’s abstract, and proficiency with MS Office.
Hands‑on experience in geotechnical or ground engineering through co‑op, internship, or early‑career project work.
Comfortable supporting work both in the field and in the office, and willing to travel to sites across northern British Columbia and the Yukon.
Enjoy working with data (logs, lab results, monitoring records) to support practical recommendations.
Willingness to grow skills with geotechnical tools and software (analysis, modeling, drafting platforms) and to learn from senior mentors.
Commitment to doing work that matters – to clients, communities, and the environment – and a collaborative, safety‑focused mindset.
Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $66,700 – $88,400
MB & ON: $60,900 – $83,800
NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $60,300 – $80,000
Salary may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
