Job descriptionOur Calgary-based client is seeking a highly analytical and business-focused Financial Analyst to transform complex financial and operational data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making and business performance. This role is central to bridging the gap between data and direction, enabling leadership to better understand performance drivers and growth opportunities. The successful candidate will analyze financial results, forecasts, and key operational metrics to uncover trends, identify risks and opportunities, and explain the "why" behind business performance. This includes evaluating pipeline conversion rates, operational efficiency, and overall business outcomes, then translating findings into clear, concise, and executive-ready insights.
Responsibilities
Analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial results versus budget and forecast
Translate financial data into concise, executive-ready insights and recommendations
Support financial reporting and performance updates for management
Assist with rolling forecasts, annual planning, and medium-term outlooks
Maintain forecast assumptions and perform scenario and sensitivity analysis
Track and analyze operational KPIs (pipeline conversion, turnaround times, capacity, pricing, and product performance)
Link operational trends to financial outcomes such as revenue, margins, and capital efficiency
Partner with Finance, Operations, BI, and Data teams to ensure KPI accuracy and consistency
Provide ad hoc analysis and contribute to strategic projects (forecasting, cost behavior, trend analysis)
Support automation initiatives and adoption of AI-driven finance tools
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
2–5 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or corporate finance
Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Power BI or other data visualization and analytics tools
Ability to communicate financial insights clearly to both finance and operational stakeholders
Experience within financial services, lending, or asset-based business environments is considered an asset
Exposure to or interest in automation, AI, and Copilot-enabled finance tools is preferred
