Job Details Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide continuous performance management, coaching and on‑going support and development of the team and provide training to new and existing staff as required
Management and oversight of month end/year end closing procedures and day‑to‑day accounting activities of the Pharmacy Accounting team. Perform various GL accounts reconciliations and/or review reconciliations prepared by other team members, ensuring that they are adequately supported and analyzed. Ensure all of the manual journal entries are completed with the necessary back‑up documentation, reviewed for accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and SOX. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial information. Support in analysis and investigation of inventory variances. Support documentation and testing of internal controls under SOX within this area.
Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
Supports the general accounting team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met, and the financial results are complete and accurate
Partnering with business stakeholders on safeguards and financial accuracy of inventory across all storage locations
Advises associates and other business partners regarding the handling of non‑routine reporting transactions
Collaborates with the other finance department members to support overall department goals and objectives
Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
Continuous process improvement with regards to processes and related financial systems (ERP), providing support and engagement with any enhancements, upgrades or system conversions
Responds to inquiries from the VP of Finance, Controller, and other finance and business unit managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and inquiries tied to this area
Performs other related duties as assigned
Experience and Educational Requirements
BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting, CPA required
Minimum seven (7) years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including 2 years of inventory management experience
Prior supervisory experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area is required
Experience working in the Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry is preferred
Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements
Working knowledge of accounting, and big ERP software packages, Sage experience an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong supervisory, interpersonal and customer service skills required
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
Ability to implement processes resulting in satisfactory audit practices
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
