Our dynamic Geomatics team is looking for a Survey Crew Chief in Medicine Hat, AB. As the successful candidate you are organized and highly collaborative, with strong communication skills and an infectious positivity that impacts and motivates all team members. You have a strong ability to operate equipment and field tools, with a healthy respect for the great outdoors and the timeline of the task at hand.

What you will do

Manage and perform field survey work with the support of Survey Assistants.

Liaise with Project Managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.

Liaise with client field representatives and landowners and be a brand ambassador for GeoVerra.

Prepare field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.

Provide guidance, training and mentorship to Survey Assistants.

Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures and the innovative use of new technology.

Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.

Complete office technical survey tasks as required and other duties as assigned.

What you will bring

Diploma/Degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or an equivalent experience.

Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software such as GPS and Total Stations (Including Robotic).

Experience of Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning and line locating considered an asset.

3-5 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role completing construction and legal surveys is required.

Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.

Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to produce accurate and legible field notes.

The ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.

An aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.

A valid driver’s license and can provide a clean driver’s abstract; and

Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.

Job Conditions

Out-of-town work (possible shift work).

Ability to carry, lift and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.

Night shift may be required.

Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
