Job description
Requirements

Excellent programming skills and experience in a statically typed backend programming language, preferably Go, Kotlin, Java or Rust

Experience developing and deploying cloud-based services to at least hundreds of qps (preferably more)

Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL)

Hands‑on experience with caching (Redis or Memcached), Queues/Pubsub/Messaging, data pipelines (Flink, Beam), and Cloud storage

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, can collaborate and coordinate with other roles and engineer with ease, trusted and well‑regarded teammate

(Desirable) Experience with analytics or timeseries databases (ClickHouse, Timescale, InfluxDB)

(Desirable) Experience with OpenTelemetry (both using, and implementing support for)

(Desirable) Experience with C++

What the job involves Nworld recently launched a few exciting new products such as Inworld TTS for consumer AI applications. We’re looking for an ambitious and capable Staff/Principal Backend Engineer to join us and help take the Inworld AI platform even farther.

New exciting products, ambitious and large‑scale, in the lineup for the launch later this year.

API‑based model services: custom TTS models and APIs include free instant voice cloning.

Services for control and optimization such as Dynamic A/B experiments.

Complicated and exciting infrastructural projects: platformization of new product offerings, development and integration of best development tools, system‑wide billing, etc.

As a Staff/Principal Software Engineer, you would be a significant part of one or more of these areas. The key challenges are:

Shipping quickly. AI is evolving weekly, so there’s a ton of opportunity.

Zero to one. The platform is not a simple copycat.

Realtime, online. Performance matters as consumer applications become more capable.

Collaboration with our sibling ML teams.

This is an IC‑focused role. We are looking for someone who loves direct technical contribution alongside very capable peers.

Establish significant scope: collaborate with PMs, engineers and leads to determine the biggest product needs to focus on now.

Operate with technical autonomy: you have leeway to suggest how to address a focus area.

Collaborate, execute, deliver: aim to optimize for speed and quality.

Reflect and drive improvements: advocate for and realize system improvements.
