The Department has teaching needs in the history of the ancient Mediterranean world, Roman history in particular. Those who have experience and demonstrable success teaching courses in the history and literature of the ancient Mediterranean world will be preferred. Ability to teach Latin language courses is also desirable. Teaching assignments will include historical surveys of Roman history, courses on the literary and material culture of the ancient Mediterranean world, and courses on the reception of ancient history in modern culture. The teaching load will be six 3‑cr courses over the three academic terms. Appointment Rank:
The appointment will be made at the rank of Lecturer or Instructor depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications. Ph.D. in the discipline is preferred. Master’s degree and appropriate experience may be considered. Salary Bands (2026‑2027 academic year): Lecturer:

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence or promise of excellence in teaching. In addition, full‑time faculty duties may include scholarly work and research, service on academic committees/other administrative duties, and/or extension work and community service, as assigned by the Dean.
