Position Overview The Mechanical Engineer – Projects will play a key role in supporting engineering, procurement, and manufacturing initiatives from initial planning through to delivery. This position is responsible for coordinating projects, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, and maintaining alignment with scope, schedule, and cost expectations. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with production, quality, procurement, and project teams, acting as a central point of coordination to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review project documentation including technical specifications, bills of materials, manufacturing drawings, procedures, and travelers
Provide technical support across projects, including manpower planning, capacity evaluation, tool selection, fixture concepts, and sequencing of operations
Support project planning and execution, including facilitating project kickoffs, manufacturing reviews, and milestone tracking
Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and deliverables aligned with customer and internal requirements
Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions to manage scope, cost, and timelines
Maintain and update project-related data within ERP systems (e.g., creating orders, item numbers, production tracking)
Collaborate closely with internal teams across production, quality, procurement, and project management
Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders, suppliers, and clients regarding technical requirements and project status
Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or compliance
Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements
Promote and support a strong safety culture in all aspects of project execution
Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience
Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
7–10 years of experience in mechanical engineering and/or project coordination within a manufacturing environment
Experience in highly regulated industries is considered an asset
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing, machining, and assembly processes
Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks/PDM) and Microsoft Office
Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics NAV) is an asset
Working knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, CSA, ISO) is considered an asset
Understanding of project management methodologies and tools
