Job description
A prominent manufacturing company in Cambridge, Ontario, is seeking a high-skilled Fitter-Welder for a contract-to-hire role, offering a wage between $27.63-30.47 per hour on the day shift (Monday-Friday 6am-2pm). This full-time position in the heavy industrial sector focuses on complex fitting (70-80%) and specialized MIG welding. As a Fitter-Welder, you’ll gain comprehensive health benefits upon permanent transition after a 3-month probation period. Also, following the 3-month probation period, earn access to an RRSP match and opportunity to log apprenticeship hours toward RED SEAL certification, all within a robust manufacturing facility in Cambridge.

Advantages
- This position is a reliable path to a permanent role (contract-to-hire) in Cambridge, offering a competitive pay rate between $27.63 and $30.47 per hour.
- Benefit from a stable day-shift schedule (Monday-Friday 6:00 am-2:00 pm)
- After 3 months, you will transition into a permanent position and you'll receive immediate health, dental, and vision coverage, plus three weeks of paid annual vacation time
- Access an attractive financial benefits package, including an RRSP match up to 2% after your probationary period.
- Receive valuable annual allowances, including a $200 safety shoe allowance and coverage for prescribed safety glasses.
- Receive support for long-term career growth through Red Seal Apprenticeship Program.

Responsibilities
- Execute high-precision individual fitting, assembly (70-80% of the role), and set-up of intricate, heavy components using detailed blueprints.
- Perform heavy-duty MIG welding (20-30% of the role) in complex and challenging positions, including overhead and within large assemblies like axles.
- Demonstrate mandatory proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints and accurately interpreting all associated weld symbols and trade math.
- Operate overhead cranes and other lifting equipment to safely move and position heavy parts and assemblies, with refresher training provided if needed.
- Prioritize and maintain excellent attendance and punctuality, recognizing reliability as a key component of success in this Fitter-Welder role.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering strictly to all safety policies and performing duties as a professional Fitter-Welder.

Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of practical fitting experience in a heavy industrial setting is required for this role as a Fitter-Welder.
- Experience with heavy-duty equipment and materials, ideally from sectors like mining or off-road machinery, is highly valued.
- Proven capability in working in a non-clean room manufacturing environment that involves climbing and fitting/welding in awkward or confined positions.
- Required ability to pass the in-house weld test, focused on performance; prior CWB certification (even if expired) is a great asset.
- Mandatory ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and perform basic trade math for accurate fitting and quality control.

Summary
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Fitter-Welder to secure a high-value contract-to-hire position in Cambridge with a leading heavy manufacturing organization. If your skills and qualifications align with the demands of this challenging role, I strongly encourage you to apply to this job posting now!
