StrategyCorp is looking for a new
Government Relations Manager
to join our team in Ottawa.
Who We Are StrategyCorp is a consulting firm focused on delivering integrated government relations, strategic communications, and management consulting strategies. With offices in Toronto and Ottawa, we support clients across Canada and internationally.
What We're Looking For The successful candidate will lead client engagements and play a key role in growing their own client portfolio. They bring experience in consulting or a related field, along with a proven history of impacting the public policy environment. You are highly attuned to the political landscape, with a strong understanding of government and keen attention to detail.
Core Competencies
Exceptional writing skills with a sharp attention to detail, including the ability to translate complex policy, political, and regulatory issues into clear, concise and compelling materials.
A strong understanding of government structures, decision‑making processes, and political dynamics across federal, provincial, and/or municipal levels
Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with public officials, political staff and key stakeholders
Demonstrated experience in analyzing and interpreting legislation, regulations, and public policy to inform strategy and advice
Strength in advocacy, negotiation, and persuasion within government and stakeholder environments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior executives, boards of directors, clients, and external stakeholders
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure nothing falls through the cracks
Highly developed critical thinking and strategic problem‑solving abilities, particularly in complex and politically sensitive environments
Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and deliver high‑quality work on tight timelines
Sound judgment, discretion, and a demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently
Strong client service orientation, with the ability to build trust and deliver value to clients, colleagues, and partners
Ability to manage and coordinate project teams, track deliverables, and oversee timelines and budgets
Interest in and aptitude for business development and contributing to firm growth
Key Qualifications
University degree in political science, public policy, Canadian studies or similar
5+ years of experience in government relations, public affairs, and/or consulting
2+ years of experience leading teams as well as mentoring and developing junior team members
Eligibility to undertake registrable lobbying activities at the federal and/or provincial level
Assets
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
Core quantitative skills
Bilingualism (English and French)
