Job description

Under the supervision of the Director, Workforce and International Development and working in consultation with community partners and college staff including Corporate Training Coordinator and Operations Coordinator, this position initiates, coordinates, implements, and monitors CEWT services, projects, programs and associated programs/activities as required. All activities support the achievement of the College’s strategic goals and objectives and help meet the net revenue and FTE (full-time equivalent) registration targets of CEWT.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Program Creation and Delivery:

  • Participate in the implementation of short and medium range plans, policies and procedures for CEWT.
  • Target course and program opportunities that align with the College’s strategic directions.
  • Monitor trends in demand for existing course offerings and solicit information on additional regional interests and needs and work closely with director and corporate training coordinator to share those findings.
  • Identify opportunities for CEWT programming.
  • Work closely with the Operations Coordinator in the development and coordination of CEWT catalogue(s) and program registrations.
  • Plan program content and course descriptions and delivery methods.
  • Consult with community representatives to identify and build new relationships.
  • Research funding sources and prepare proposals for funding as required, working closely with Corporate Training Coordinator as the usual lead.
  • Ensure effective course delivery and employee support and resources.
  • Identify or advise on curriculum development or revision as appropriate.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to employees on program evaluation results.
  • Liaise with government agencies regarding program status, student status and program reporting.
  • Work closely with operations coordinator request the coordination and tracking programming advertising and marketing.
  • Provide lead coordination of priority program portfolio(s).
  • Collaborate with Corporate Training Coordinator to customize programs for corporate contracts.
  • Determine and define the various target markets for programs/courses, in collaboration with corporate training coordinator and director.

Human Resource Management:

  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of appropriate qualified staff and trainers.
  • Arrange for contracts and supporting documentation for all CEWT activities.
  • Provide orientation for new staff.
  • Provide leadership and direction to assigned staff to ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve strategic goals.
  • Provide support for training and development of assigned staff to assure their current and continuing competencies.
  • Use evaluation tools, surveys, and questionnaires to assess program, trainer and course effectiveness and appropriateness.
  • Review and evaluate performance of assigned staff, providing coaching where needed, reviewing and recommending learning plans.
  • Ensure adherence to Selkirk College policies (including student appeals and employee code of conduct), procedures, and Collective Agreements.

Program Evaluation and Financial Management:

  • Assist the Director in the development of annual net revenue targets, operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage contract budgets for CEWT programs and activities as referred and tracked from corporate training coordinator.
  • Negotiate and establish program fees, wages and funding arrangements.
  • Monitor expenditures and revenues within those budgets.
  • Achieve the target projection for annual net revenue.
  • Work with the Operations Coordinator to resolve budget issues and discrepancies.
  • Maintain and report statistical data with respect to budget performance and course participation.
  • Utilize financial information to plan, modify or cancel courses or programs working with the Operations Coordinator.
  • Ensure invoicing for partnership agreements, as needed, and authorize trainer timesheets.

CEWT Program Recruitment and Marketing

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with trainers, staff, students and other departments.
  • Participate in community activities that support the strategic initiatives of the College.
  • Represent Selkirk College on provincial committees as requested.
  • Support Community Learning Councils where applicable and participate in various Selkirk College committees.
  • Work with Marketing department to plan and implement marketing plans and strategies.
  • Liaise with department staff to ensure efficiency of program delivery.
  • Liaise with Operations coordinator in coordination of facility, IT and maintenance needs for related activities.
  • Resolves escalated customer complaints/inquiries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Experience creating and operating within budgets.
  • Demonstrable leadership and effective management practice.
  • Ability to write proposals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams
  • Successful track record of community outreach and involvement.
  • Entrepreneurial and sales minded.
  • Detail oriented, innovative, creative, and a proven team player.
  • Extensive knowledge of the relevant community and its needs preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with key stakeholders to meet targets and/or deliverables.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field (e.g. adult education, training, community development, business).
  • 3-5 years’ experience in CEWT or related field with proven project management experience.

This is a regular, full-time (35 hrs/week) position, commencing July 20, 2026. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Administrative Staff and Benefit Program. Based on qualifications and experience, the compensation is in accordance with the Exempt Compensation Framework which is aligned with Selkirk’s compensation philosophy. As such, the position will be placed on Grid Level 6 between the minimum and control/mid-point ($67,893.00 - $90,524.00).
