About the Company
A leading renewable energy platform is seeking a Senior Manager, Regulatory & Market Compliance to oversee and manage enterprise-wide regulatory and market-participant compliance activities across a diversified renewable generation portfolio. This role will support compliance obligations across multiple ISO/RTO markets including PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, NYISO, and CAISO, while interfacing with federal and state regulatory authorities. The position is highly operational and hands-on, requiring direct ownership of filings, compliance program administration, regulatory coordination, and post-acquisition integration activities. This role partners closely with legal, commercial, trading, operations, and executive leadership teams to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving regulatory requirements. This position does not include NERC operational compliance responsibilities.
About the Role
This role is focused on overseeing and managing compliance activities across a diversified renewable generation portfolio, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and market participation obligations.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess regulatory developments impacting generation assets and market participation activities across applicable ISO/RTOs and regulatory agencies.
- Develop implementation plans and communicate material compliance risks and regulatory updates to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Design, maintain, and administer a centralized compliance tracking framework covering recurring regulatory obligations, deadlines, filings, and certifications.
- Prepare, coordinate, and submit ongoing regulatory filings and compliance documentation.
- Maintain continuous oversight of compliance obligations related to FERC, ISO/RTO market rules, public utility commissions, and energy market regulations.
- Support acquisition and divestiture activities including registrations, ownership transfers, permit updates, account transitions, and compliance record migration.
- Respond to inquiries, deficiency notices, audits, and information requests from regulatory authorities and market operators.
- Support energy trading compliance activities and market conduct oversight.
- Develop, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Create and deliver compliance and market-conduct training programs for trading, operations, asset management, and leadership teams.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with legal, commercial, asset management, and operations teams to ensure timely compliance execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; degree concentration in business, engineering, law, finance, or related discipline preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive experience in energy regulatory compliance or market compliance within the power generation or energy trading sectors.
- Prior experience managing ISO/RTO market participant compliance programs is required.
- Strong understanding of U.S. electricity market structures and regulatory frameworks including PJM, MISO, ERCOT, SPP, NYISO, and/or CAISO.
- Experience supporting FERC compliance and market conduct programs required.
- Exposure to energy trading compliance activities is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing regulatory filings, compliance calendars, and multi-jurisdictional obligations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interface effectively with regulators, executives, and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, SharePoint, and compliance/document management systems.
- Familiarity with ISO/RTO market systems and portals is preferred.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, process-driven, and proactive with strong accountability and ownership mindset.
Preferred Skills
- Experience within renewable energy, independent power producers (IPP), utilities, or energy trading organizations.
- Experience supporting compliance integration activities tied to acquisitions and asset transfers.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting and compliance requirements across both U.S. federal and state jurisdictions.
