We are looking for a Building Mechanical Technologist for our Atlantic Buildings Mechanical and Electrical team based in Dartmouth, NS. This role supports the design and delivery of mechanical building systems for a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on federal, municipal, and public‑sector clients in the Atlantic Provinces.
Responsibilities
Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
Develop design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD, in accordance with company standards and client requirements.
Assist engineers with system layouts, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications.
Support designs that comply with federal and provincial standards, including the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), NECB, ASHRAE, CSA, and client‑specific federal guidelines.
Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines in a multi‑discipline environment.
Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities.
Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning support as required.
Assist with documentation for security‑sensitive and controlled‑access facilities.
Support project schedules, quality control processes, and internal design reviews.
Qualifications
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent drafting accreditation with experience.
3–6 years of experience in building mechanical design, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required.
Familiarity with public‑sector and federal government projects is an asset.
Experience with institutional, laboratory, healthcare, or office building projects is an asset.
Knowledge of BIM coordination practices and multidisciplinary project delivery.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician (C.E.T. or C.Tech) is considered an asset.
Valid driver’s licence.
