Job description
Manga Hotel Group is a Canadian company involved in the acquisition, development and management of high-quality residences and hotels affiliated with prestigious brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Intercontinental Hotels Group, and independent hotels including TOOR Hotel in downtown Toronto, SoHo 54 Hotel in New York City, the Atlantica Hotel Halifax and The Hollis Halifax. Currently, Manga Hotels owns and operates 34 hotels with over 6,400 rooms across Canada and in the United States with several new properties and developments in the pipeline.

Our finance function operates as a centralized accounting hub, supporting multiple hotel properties from our corporate office. This model demands accountants who are technically rigorous, detail-obsessed, and confident working across a high-volume, multi-entity environment.

The Opportunity We are seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our centralized accounting team. This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role where precision matters — you will be the backbone of financial integrity across our hotel portfolio. If you take pride in clean books, airtight reconciliations, and mastery of double-entry accounting, this role is built for you.

What You'll Do

Execute full-cycle, double-entry accounting for multiple hotel properties within a centralized accounting structure — from journal entries through to financial statement close.

Perform rigorous GL reconciliations and balance sheet reviews, ensuring every account is substantiated, variances are investigated, and entries are properly supported.

Manage month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepaid amortization, intercompany entries, and account tie-outs.

Prepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedules for property-level and consolidated reporting.

Assist in the development and monitoring of internal controls across hotel properties, identifying gaps and recommending improvements.

Collaborate with Hotel General Managers and on-site accountants on daily accounting functions, resolving discrepancies and maintaining data integrity.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.

Participate in or lead special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as directed by the Controller or VP of Finance.

Assist in training and mentoring junior accounting staff on accounting standards, reconciliation procedures, and best practices.

What You Bring Education & Credentials

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).

CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program.

Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in a public accounting firm or a multi-entity corporate accounting environment.

Demonstrated mastery of double-entry accounting principles — you understand debits, credits, and the financial statement impact of every entry you make.

Proven track record of performing detailed GL reconciliations and resolving complex account discrepancies.

Experience preparing financial statements and working papers with accuracy and in accordance with GAAP/ASPE.

Prior experience as a Hotel Financial Controller or Assistant Controller is an advantage.

Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch errors before they become problems.

Self-starter who takes ownership, meets deadlines, and works with minimal supervision.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, methodical approach.

Collaborative team player who communicates clearly with both finance and non-finance colleagues.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-property environment where priorities can shift.

Be part of a centralized finance team with broad exposure across a diverse, growing hotel portfolio.

Work with a respected, entrepreneurial organization that has shaped the Canadian hospitality landscape.

Gain direct mentorship from experienced finance leadership.

Competitive compensation commensurate with experience.

Opportunity for career advancement within a growing company.
