Your Role As part of Babcock’s Marine Technical Inspection team, you will help ensure Canada’s critical services and assets remain reliable, secure, and capable for our defense and civil customers.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage day‑to‑day operations of the Marine Technical Inspection team in accordance with Babcock Canada’s policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance and integrity of all inbound material.
Coordinate with stakeholders to address material quality issues for Marine projects.
Drive continuous improvement and lead change within the Supply Chain Quality organization and the Babcock Canada Operating System.
Lead cross‑functional teams to develop and implement quality improvement plans.
Motivate, coach, and develop a high‑performing team to achieve business objectives.
Provide extensive experience in inspection criteria, creation of procedures, operational standards and work instructions.
Manage non‑conforming material and resolve technical discrepancies.
Apply quality improvement principles to support project delivery.
Conduct work in a manner that supports a positive Health and Safety culture.
Manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
Lead regularly scheduled quality performance audits and drive preventive measures.
Collaborate with material planning, procurement and warehousing teams to drive engagement and innovation within the P&SC function.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary and reasonable to support the business.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years related experience with 3+ years of progressive management experience in a relevant environment.
Availability to work varied or on‑call shifts as required by the business.
A “home safe” approach to work and the ability to lead with the same mindset.
Capacity to manage a small team (4–6 people) including scheduling, coaching, performance management and training.
Continuous improvement mindset.
Six Sigma Greenbelt trained/certified or willingness to undertake training within one year.
Certified Six Sigma qualification, PMP designation or ASQ certifications considered a plus.
Experience in risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Professional attitude aligned with Babcock’s purpose and principles.
Knowledge of Quality Control or Quality Assurance best practices is a benefit.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards is advantageous.
Eligibility for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
