Job descriptionTheAccountantis responsible foroverseeing full-cycle accounting functions for a portfolio of hotel and residential properties, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness in all financial reporting. This role upholds Holloway Lodging’s accounting policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with established audit standards and internal controls.
TheAccountantpartners closely with property and corporate teams to support financial integrity, identify opportunities for process improvement, and contribute to effective, data-driven decision-making across the organization.
While the Company owns and operates assets across Canada, our head office is located in Halifax, where our accounting, accounts payable, legal, HR, and finance teams are based. This role is based full-time at our Bayer's Lake office at 168 Hobson Lake Drive, Beechville, Nova Scotia. In line with the rest of the Company, this is an in-office role, five days per week.

SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3+year’s experience in full-cycle accounting including month‑end and year‑end processes
Hospitality experience considered an asset
Experience with Nectari considered an asset
RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily bank reconciliations to support weekly cash flow forecasting
Preparing monthly financial results including journal entries and account reconciliations for a portfolio of hotel properties
Reviewing hotel accounts payable and expense reports
Monthly review of hotel results with hotel managers; day to day consultation with hotel managers and hotel accounting administrators
Informing General Managers on status of accounts and agree upon action to resolve problem accounts
Preparing working paper files for audit support
Maintaining fixed asset schedules
Preparing statutory filings
Accurately accruing for items at month‑end in line with company policy
Verifying and confirming the daily cash, and credit card deposits, reconciling deposits against the PMO system and bank records
Ensuring accurate and timely completion of daily, weekly, and monthly information / statements / reports to meet requirements of corporate office, RVPs and General Manager
Ensuring ongoing professional communication with customers/accounts payable departments
Alerting the General Manager, and/or Accounting Manager to cash shortages or deviation from policies and procedures
Ensuring timely and accurate transmission of daily information alerting the General Manager to any positive or adverse trends
Reviewing and ensuring full implementation of all accounting/cash/control related procedures
Participating in the monthly financial review
Recognizing the importance of the role in maintaining ethical accounting practices with any deviations at property level being brought immediately to the attention of the Accounting Manager
Assisting in and supporting special projects and miscellaneous requests
Performing any other job‑related duties as assigned
Complying with attendance rules and availability to work on a regular basis
