Job descriptionJob Summary The Manager, Information Management Services (IMS) provides leadership and oversight of the Information Management Services (IMS) portfolio, ensuring enterprise technology services are reliable, secure, and aligned with district priorities. Reporting to the Executive Director, Information Technology, the IMS Manager oversees day‑to‑day service delivery, supports the lifecycle management of enterprise systems, and leads technical staff in delivering high‑quality services that support teaching, learning, and business operations. This position requires strong people leadership, service management expertise, and technical judgment within a complex public‑sector environment.
Responsibilities Operations
Manages the day‑to‑day operations of the IMS portfolio, ensuring services are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with district priorities.
Establishes service standards and performance expectations; monitors service delivery outcomes and implements continuous improvement initiatives.
Leads operational planning for assigned services, including workload coordination, priority setting, and resource allocation.
Works with technical team members and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects, service enhancements, upgrades, and operational initiatives within the assigned portfolio.
Contributes to budget planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and operational planning for the assigned portfolio.
Systems Management
Ensures systems and services are maintained in a secure, stable, and supportable manner, with appropriate planning for upgrades, patching, capacity, and renewal.
Provides technical leadership and guidance related to infrastructure, enterprise applications, cloud services, endpoint technologies, and related operational environments, as applicable to the portfolio.
Collaborates with internal teams and vendors to evaluate solutions, troubleshoot issues, and support the ongoing optimization of services and technologies.
Supports technology modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, automation, efficiency, and user experience.
Leadership
Supervises, mentors, supports, and evaluates unionized technical staff in accordance with applicable collective agreements, district policies, and management practices.
Leads a diverse, cross‑functional team focused on maintaining reliable services, improving performance, and enabling business and educational operations.
Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and operational recommendations to district stakeholders, leadership, and partner teams.
Supports communication with stakeholders regarding service expectations, changes, impacts, timelines, and planned improvements.
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Technology Management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive experience supporting enterprise IT environments, including enterprise applications and cloud‑based systems, with demonstrated experience in a leadership, supervisory, or team lead role, preferably within a complex public‑sector, education, or distributed service environment.
Experience working in the education sector, public sector, or another large, multi‑site organization is an asset.
Technical Experience
Demonstrated experience managing and supporting enterprise application environments in a large, complex organization.
Strong knowledge of enterprise and cloud‑based platforms, including:
Microsoft Windows, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, SharePoint, Azure, and Teams
Experience with major enterprise business systems such as:
ERP, HRIS, payroll, student information, and learning‑related applications
Oracle ERP, MyEdBC (Aspen Follett), SchoolBundle, Spaces, or similar platforms
Experience with application integrations, data flows, and reporting and analytics solutions such as Power BI.
Working knowledge of application security, data privacy, access controls, and governance practices.
Experience overseeing software evaluation, selection, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
Familiarity with software development, automation, or low‑code/no‑code solutions is an asset.
Ability to assess business needs and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable application solutions.

The salary range for this position is $115,240 to $144,050 per year with comprehensive benefits package and Municipal Pension.
