Job descriptionA growing Canadian-based drilling services organization with operations across Canada, the United States, and Africa is seeking a hands‑on Controller to partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership team.
This is a high‑impact finance leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys building processes, improving systems, supporting operational decision‑making, and helping scale a growing business.
The successful candidate will bring a strong mix of technical accounting expertise, operational finance experience, business partnership capability, and leadership maturity. This role requires both hands‑on involvement in day‑to‑day accounting operations and higher‑level strategic financial oversight.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Leading the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions
Managing month‑end close, consolidations, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and operational analysis
Partnering with operational leaders across the business
Building and improving accounting processes, systems, controls, and reporting capabilities
Delivering financial insights, KPI reporting, and variance analysis to leadership
Supporting Board reporting and executive‑level financial presentations
Coordinating annual audits, tax requirements, and regulatory compliance
Supporting risk management and financial stewardship initiatives
Helping establish scalable finance infrastructure to support continued growth
What We’re Looking For:
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience
Previous experience as a Controller or equivalent senior finance role
Experience within drilling, transportation, industrial services, energy, construction, manufacturing, or related industries strongly preferred
Strong technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge (IFRS/GAAP)
Experience within private company environments
Strong financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and operational finance capability
Experience with consolidations and multi‑entity reporting
M&A exposure considered an asset
Strong leadership, communication, and business partnering skills
Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment
