Director, Pipeline
to join their team. The Role
The Director, Pipeline leads the successful delivery of major pipeline programs, with a focus on large-diameter oil and gas pipeline construction. As a senior member of the leadership team, this role will drive continuous improvement across teams, systems, equipment, and processes to ensure safe, high-quality, and profitable operations. This role is tied to the Nisku office; however, candidates across Western Canada will be considered. Given the nature of the work, there is a strong expectation of travel to project sites, other offices, and client locations as required. Responsibilities
Maintaining and promoting a strong safety culture across all employees, vendors, and customers Leading the identification, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies and process improvements across pipeline projects Collaborating with senior leaders to identify new customers and drive growth opportunities Supporting business development activities including client relationships, opportunity qualification, and bid strategy Partnering with estimating, project controls, and operations teams to develop proposals, pricing, and execution strategies Providing executive oversight of pipeline projects, including scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and risk mitigation Overseeing project performance, reporting, and implementation of tools to improve visibility and consistency Owning risk management frameworks and supporting commercial and contractual decision-making Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Representing the organisation within industry associations and relevant forums Supporting workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development in partnership with HR Leading and developing teams, including performance management and coaching Supporting the recovery of underperforming projects where required Reviewing financial performance and contributing to long-term business success Requirements
Post-secondary degree in Engineering or equivalent experience P.Eng (APEGA) and/or PMP certification preferred 10–15+ years of experience across project engineering, project management, or pipeline construction environments Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and industry best practices Experience in large-scale pipeline, heavy civil, or industrial construction projects Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting and cost control Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead through teams Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Experience working within union or construction environments is advantageous Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required, including across Western Canada and occasional US travel Additional Information
