$220,000 - $230,000

About the Role The Director, Corporate Project is responsible for leading the Capital Projects Team in the execution of capital projects. They manage the overall capital budget for the organization which includes both sustenance capital and organic growth capital, while collaborating with manufacturing, reliability, EHS, and process safety on priorities. They drive Chemtrade’s Project Management Process (CPMP) to ensure effective definition, prioritization and execution of projects, including the use of standard project management processes across projects run by the Capital Projects Team or Site Resources. They will oversee engineering design and execution and ensure alignment with Corporate objectives, manufacturing needs, Responsible Care principles, Process Safety Management, and Mechanical / Electrical Reliability requirements. As part of the Engineering Leadership team, the Director will need to have an Operational Excellence mindset to own, drive, audit, and continuously improve the CPMP Process, Capital Project Spending accountability, Capital Forecasting, and short and long range capital planning processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of Capital Project Management experience, including at least 5 years of leadership experience
Experience in refinery or chemical manufacturing is preferred
Demonstrated skill/knowledge in the following areas:
Capital project management and project controls
Manufacturing plant support and construction
Material handling equipment
Responsible Care 14001
ASTM and ASME standards
Demonstrated success in building and leading teams, as well as driving accountability
Operational Excellence and use of Lean Six Sigma tools experience preferred
Effective Change Agent
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills with project manager, procurement, vendors/contractors, and leadership.
Proficiency utilizing computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, SAP, Microsoft Teams, Power BI
Travel Required: Up to 50%
Roles and Responsibilities of Managers
Own the capital engineering strategy by developing or updating the existing strategy and ensuring alignment with corporate goals.
Facilitate the management of the Capital Budget in conjunction with the Manufacturing & Commercial leaders for both Sustenance and Organic Growth
Collaborate with appropriate business leaders to determine capital priorities, staffing and support requirements
Own, drive, audit, and improve CPMP process and the Stage Gate Process
Lead and drive short and long range capital planning efforts
Lead monthly capital forecasting
Work closely with Capital Procurement on large spends
Lead the project team to define, scope, plan, and execute capital projects with focus on safety, operational reliability, and sustainability
Drive accountability to spend and schedule for all projects
Ensure effective project design and execution and collaborate with EHS, Manufacturing, Corporate Reliability, Business Leads, etc. to ensure consistency and adherence to Chemtrade Standards and practices
Lead and drive direct reports to meet department goals
Provide leadership and coaching as well as drive accountability for project team members
Align and collaborate with other leadership members across the businesses to drive an Operational Excellence mindset with reliability, EHS, and process safety
Be a change leader for the entire Engineering team by challenging the norm and continually improving existing processes or systems when needed
