Job descriptionSenior Procurement Specialist Worley Canada Construction seeks a Senior Procurement Specialist to lead procurement activities across complex project scopes, including engineered equipment, bulk permanent materials, and indirect project procurement. This role manages the full procurement lifecycle—from RFQ through award, purchase order execution, and closeout—while ensuring commercial alignment, mitigating risk, and delivering value to the project. The successful candidate brings strong experience in negotiation, supplier strategy, and cross‑functional coordination in a fast‑paced EPC/EPF and construction environment.
Work Conditions Edmonton home‑office based schedule. 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities Procurement Leadership & Strategy
Lead procurement for assigned project scopes, ensuring alignment with project schedule, budget, and execution strategy
Establish sourcing strategies for engineered equipment, bulk permanent materials, and/or indirect project procurement
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers and procurement team members
Act as a key procurement interface with project management, engineering, and construction teams
Procurement Process
Review material requisitions submitted by the project team
Prepare and issue RFQ/RFP documentation based on project needs
Source and evaluate potential suppliers for quality, cost, and delivery timelines
Recommend suppliers based on comprehensive evaluation criteria
Prepare and issue accurate and timely purchase orders (POs)
Supplier & Order Management
Prepare, issue, and manage complex purchase orders and agreements
Ensure contractual compliance with project requirements and company standards
Identify and mitigate commercial risks, including scope gaps, schedule exposure, and cost escalation
Manage change orders, claims, and commercial deviations throughout the procurement lifecycle
Ensure accurate and timely PO administration to support invoicing and financial controls
Close out POs once all contractual and procedural requirements are fulfilled
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with project management, construction teams, client representatives, quality control, project controls, accounts payable, and suppliers
Maintain a clear understanding of procurement workflows and client‑specific requirements
Ensure alignment between procurement activities and construction priorities
Manage deadlines and proactively communicate scheduling issues
Distribute procurement reports to clients and internal stakeholders as required
Maintain a clear understanding of client‑specific procurement and contractual requirements
Qualifications Required
7–12+ years of procurement or supply chain experience, preferably within EPC/EPF or industrial construction
Demonstrated experience procuring complex engineered equipment and project materials
Strong commercial acumen and contract negotiation experience
Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and resolve commercial challenges
Advanced skills in Excel and procurement systems
Proven ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced, high‑stress environment
Preferred
Experience with Aveva ERM or similar ERP/procurement systems
Diploma, Degree, or Certification in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering
Experience working in both home office and field/project environments
