Job descriptionThe BIM & Design Automation Manager plays a critical hands‑on and leadership role in MEP‑driven system design , equipment room layout, BIM coordination, and early‑stage design automation. This position bridges engineering intent, manufacturable systems, and BIM execution while supporting projects across SD50 / SD100, DD100, IFT, Construction Administration , and ongoing design guardianship.
The role emphasizes early‑stage certainty through spatial feasibility validation, clash avoidance, and rapid BOM generation while maintaining disciplined BIM execution through later delivery phases.
The successful candidate will be a technically grounded, hands‑on BIM leader with strong engineering intuition who is comfortable operating between design, automation, manufacturing logic, and construction reality .
Duties MEP‑Centered System & Equipment Room Design
Develop, manage, and coordinate Autodesk Revit models for MEP systems, equipment rooms, and specialized technical spaces.
Apply constructible, serviceable, and maintenance‑ready design logic
to layouts, clearances, access zones, and routing.
Translate engineering intent, hydraulic logic, and equipment selections into accurate spatial and BIM deliverables.
Act as a technical bridge between MEP engineering, BIM execution, fabrication logic, and site‑relevant decisions .
BIM Coordination, Standards & Information Management
Lead model coordination and multi‑disciplinary integration
using Revit and
Autodesk Navisworks .
Perform and manage
clash detection , issue tracking, and resolution workflows.
Establish and enforce
BIM standards, naming conventions, model health practices, and coordination protocols .
Apply and support BIM delivery aligned with
ISO 19650 information management principles
(experience with ISO workflows preferred).
Communicate BIM requirements clearly across internal teams, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Design Automation & Computational BIM
Develop and maintain
Dynamo for Revit
workflows for early‑stage layout studies, feasibility validation, and automation of repetitive tasks.
Translate
BOM data, system parameters, and configurable logic
into spatial and system‑driven BIM outputs.
Extend automation into complex plumbing, piping, and hydraulic systems associated with water feature infrastructure.
Apply automation
strategically , prioritizing early clarity and decision support rather than uncontrolled late‑stage authority.
Required Background & Technical Qualifications
Strong practical experience in
MEP design , with a focus on equipment rooms, plant spaces, and technical service environments.
Proven experience coordinating MEP systems within
3D BIM environments .
Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit , including model setup, work-sharing, and multi‑disciplinary coordination.
Strong expertise with
Autodesk Navisworks , including clash detection and model review workflows.
Solid understanding of
BIM terminology, processes, and best practices .
Working knowledge of
ISO 19650
or equivalent BIM information management standards.
Strong proficiency in
AutoCAD
for coordination and legacy documentation.
Strong working knowledge of
Microsoft Excel
for schedules, BOMs, and structured data management.
Hands‑on experience with
Dynamo for Revit .
Understanding of
landscape architecture (LARCH) and architectural design processes .
Knowledge of plumbing, piping, or hydraulic systems is a
strong asset .
Detail‑oriented with the ability to think system‑wide and spatially.
Capable of guiding standards while actively contributing to project delivery.
