The Nunatsiavut Group of Companies is seeking a dynamic individual for the role of Chief Financial Officer.

The Organization The Nunatsiavut Group of Companies (NGC) is an Inuit-led business leader in Labrador with a mandate to create wealth in trust for Nunatsiavut Beneficiaries by owning and operating profitable, sustainable businesses. NGC operates under the authority of the Labrador Inuit Capital Strategy Trust (LICST) and includes wholly owned companies, majority-owned companies, and minority partnerships. NGC is the successor to the Labrador Inuit Development Corporation (LIDC) as Nunatsiavut’s economic development corporation. Formed in 2011, NGC is a for-profit company, with operations in diverse areas, including marine, aviation, logistics, construction, mining, site and development services, and real estate.

The Role NGC is seeking a strategic and collaborative finance leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting to the President & CEO and working closely with the Chief Operations Officer, the CFO plays a vital leadership role within the organization—bringing a mix of financial expertise, operational insight, and strategic acumen to guide NGC’s diverse operations. They are responsible for planning and executing a forward‑looking financial strategy that supports long‑term success and growth of all the NGC companies. Financial Oversight and Planning:

Provide oversight of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management for NGC and its subsidiaries. Deliver clear, accurate financial analysis to inform decisions and align resources with organizational goals.

Strategic Leadership and Business Partnership:

Act as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team. Support growth through business case development, risk analysis, and capital planning. Build financial literacy across the leadership team to enable data‑informed decision‑making.

Operational and Team Leadership:

Lead and develop a small but capable finance team. Strengthen internal controls, streamline processes, and support financial systems implementation and optimization across a growing number of business units. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and develop reports in a timely manner.

Relationship Building and Communication:

Collaborate effectively with external partners, including auditors, bankers, and investment stakeholders. Work closely with subsidiary leadership and the Board to communicate financial performance, identify opportunities, and maintain trust.

Community and Cultural Alignment:

Demonstrate respect for Inuit values, practices, and ways of knowing. Commit to building long‑term value for Labrador Inuit communities through inclusive, ethical, and sustainable business practices.

You may be a current CFO, a Director of Finance or a seasoned Controller looking for an opportunity to take on greater strategic and leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications and Experience

Professional designation (CPA) or equivalent financial qualifications.

Progressive experience in financial leadership roles, ideally in a multi‑entity or growth‑oriented environment.

Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Experience supporting strategic planning and executive decision‑making.

Connection to Nunatsiavut and/or Labrador communities, is preferred.

Familiarity with the financial requirements of construction, logistics, or related industries is an asset.
