Job description
Government Services - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Manager of Operations is responsible for managing the staff, equipment and materials required to provide regional permitting, inspection, and enforcement services for environmental protection, environmental health, development control and public safety programs. Specifically, the position will implement and administer programs associated with a wide variety of legislation and regulations; coordinate and manage the performance of program staff; provide technical guidance regarding relevant legislation, regulations, codes and standards; coordinate services and program changes on behalf of other provincial government entities; liaise with federal and municipal government stakeholders; participate in provincial working groups; manage program records and information; prepare reports, briefing notes and other correspondence; and participate in budgeting and purchasing activities.

Screening Criteria

Completion of an undergraduate degree in business administration or science (equivalencies will be considered)

Experience delivering client services in a regulatory environment

Experience interpreting legislation, regulation or standards

Experience supervising staff in a service delivery environment

Experience working with multiple stakeholder groups

Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (asset)

Assessment Criteria

Knowledge of environmental protection practices (asset)

Knowledge of environmental health practices (asset)

Knowledge of public safety practices (asset)

Ability to think critically

Conditions of Offer
