Job description
Join the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as a Temporary Municipal Legal Counsel for approximately three months in Fort McMurray, AB. Provide comprehensive legal services across various municipal domains, ensuring compliance and effective legal advisement.

This role primarily involves civil litigation, enforcement, taxation and assessment matters, along with planning, development, and general counsel. You'll be drafting bylaws, representing municipal authorities, and providing opinions that drive municipal governance. Strong analytical skills and excellent communication are crucial to succeed in this position, where you will support organizational legal compliance.

Key Responsibilities: • Provide legal services across diverse municipal matters • Conduct civil litigation research and drafting • Draft bylaws and represent in enforcement proceedings • Handle taxation assessments and appeals effectively • Offer legal advice and review contracts for compliance

Requirements: • Law degree from a recognized Canadian University • Two years of post-articling legal experience • Knowledge of municipal governance and legislative frameworks • Exceptional writing and communication skills • Criminal Record Check and a Class Five Licence preferred
