About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Maintenance and Operations Assistant Manager, and/or designate, performs a variety of skilled, semi‑skilled, and unskilled tasks related to the upkeep of Nova Scotia Health properties (Facilities and grounds) and related infrastructure, including but not limited to operation, maintenance and service requirements of all grounds and facility related infrastructure and equipment. Duties include corrective maintenance on BAS‑Monitor/Operate/Maintain, replacing pullies, performing preventative maintenance, and more. The Building Maintenance Worker may fill in for certified trades and follows operational, equipment, tools, and safety codes, standards, and procedures. Travel to other sites may be required. The incumbent will complete employer‑requested upgrades and/or educational training as required.
About You
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Journeyperson in a recognized trade (consideration may also be given to 3rd class Power Engineers or higher)
- Able to crack fill, paint, and build things (i.e., build shelving, small carpentry projects, use basic carpentry hand tools and power tools), fix small electrical issues, unplug a sink, take a drain apart, competent in running small equipment
- Knowledge of a Safety Permit System
- A minimum of 3 months experience in a recognized maintenance trade
- Travel to other sites may be required; access to a reliable vehicle is required
- Ability to operate various motor vehicles, machinery, tools, and equipment related to the work environment
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
- Long assignment, full‑time position; 75 hours bi‑weekly
- Approximately 12 months
Compensation and Benefits
$31.55 – $37.31 hourly
