Business Consultant – Intermediate
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Contract Duration: 9 Months
Work Model: Hybrid (Primarily Remote within Alberta)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Business Consultant to support the development and enhancement of a Digital Regulatory Assurance System (DRAS) within a fast-paced, high-performing project environment. This role will focus on gathering and documenting business requirements, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, coordinating with technical teams, and ensuring successful delivery of system enhancements and operational improvements.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, communication, business process, and change management skills, along with experience supporting IT application development initiatives and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate requirements gathering sessions for continuous improvement initiatives
- Analyze and define business requirements for system functionality, defects, and enhancements
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams on solution design, development, and implementation
- Document, analyze, and manage business requirements throughout the project lifecycle
- Produce project deliverables within established quality standards
- Identify, track, escalate, and support resolution of project issues and risks
- Prepare and execute assigned tasks according to project plans and timelines
- Review and provide feedback on testing strategies, test plans, and test cases
- Support project reporting activities including status updates, risk logs, issue tracking, and change management
- Attend project meetings related to scheduling, status reviews, and stakeholder engagement
- Prepare status reports, meeting minutes, change requests, and related project documentation
- Obtain stakeholder and sponsor sign-off on deliverables
- Track recommendations, updates, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support organizational change management (OCM) communication and stakeholder engagement activities
Work Schedule & Environment
- Standard Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta Time
- Primarily remote work arrangement within Alberta
- Resource may be required to attend occasional in-office meetings or work sessions with reasonable notice
- Expected onsite attendance approximately once per month for scheduled meetings
- Work must be performed within Alberta when working remotely
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
- University Degree in Business, Management, or related discipline with 4 years of related experience; OR
- Two-year Diploma in Business, Management, or related discipline with 6 years of related experience; OR
- One-year Certificate in Business, Management, or related discipline with 7 years of related experience
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative cost-benefit analysis
- Minimum 3 years of experience with business writing, communication, and documentation
- Minimum 3 years of experience with change management
- Minimum 3 years of experience with systems development methodologies and application development life cycles
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with system stakeholders in the development and maintenance of IT applications
- Strong analytical, facilitation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CAPM, PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification
- CMC designation or equivalent consulting certification
- Experience in leadership and facilitation roles
- Experience managing projects within large and complex organizations
- Experience developing communication plans
- Experience developing information management policies, standards, or practices
- Experience designing creative business and process solutions
