Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Senior Manager, Project Finance will have comprehensive knowledge of Aecon Nuclear administrative operations, mentor staff in the management of accounting practices, complete financial reporting, and oversee all Finance and Accounting processes on site for the Darlington New Nuclear Program (DNNP).
This position will work closely with the DNNP Integrated Project Delivery Project Directors and project teams, as well as the client, OPG.
What You’ll Do Here
Provides financial reporting to meet customer, partner, and site team requirements.
Reviews monthly project forecasts, manages the month‑end close deliverables for the Aecon‑managed General Partnerships, and facilitates month‑end and ongoing project reporting as required.
Participates in quarterly forecasts, annual business plans and budgets.
Reviews partner invoices for completion and accurate costing, oversees billings to the client.
Helps resolve any disputed billings and takes steps necessary to ensure the timely release of payments from the client.
Ensures job costs are monitored and forecasted.
Responsible for foreign‑exchange projection and initiating any hedges or letters of credit required in conjunction with the Aecon Treasury team.
Participates in the gathering of financial information needed for claims or change‑order requests.
Reviews contracts and changes for commercial terms, including insurance requirements, and provides advice on how to mitigate risk in these areas.
Supports GP Project management with strategic planning and business‑case analysis.
Delivers monthly project financial updates in leadership forums.
Responsible for reviewing cash‑flow forecasts with site teams and GP partner finance teams.
Identifies efficiencies, enhances processes and working files to provide high‑quality, timely information.
Mentors Project Finance team and junior staff.
GP Project finance and payroll staff.
What You Bring to the Team
Post‑secondary school education in business or equivalent experience.
Advanced working knowledge of an ERP and Excel; experience with SAP an asset.
Completion of a post‑secondary degree and accounting designation.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years of post‑qualification related experience, ideally in the construction and/or manufacturing industry.
Strong knowledge of IFRS, including technical accounting and reporting requirements.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are extremely important in this role.
Champion of building relationships and working with operations teams toward a common goal.
Stakeholder experience with customers, suppliers, GP partners.
Experience engaging external auditors (financial, ISO, etc.).
