Senior Mechanical Engineer
to join Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario. The position will be based in Falconbridge, Greater Sudbury, Ontario. This is a full‑time, permanent staff position with a range of pay between $125,800 and $140,000, plus an annual variable compensation bonus.
Duties and Accountabilities Reporting to the Superintendent Smelter and Mill Engineering, the Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assessment, design, planning, cost estimation, document control, project management, construction, commissioning, and close‑out of work requiring engineering principles within a specific discipline. This role includes first‑level supervision of professional engineers and other technical staff, including seconded engineers, project leads, designers, draftspersons, project support staff, and engineering students.

Education and Skills A university degree in an engineering discipline is required, along with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in an industrial, process‑based environment. Candidates must be registered members of the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Strong communication and negotiation skills, both oral and written, are essential. Leadership ability and the capacity to foster change within the operation are also required. The incumbent will make independent professional engineering decisions and manage approximately 15 to 25 multi‑discipline projects annually, and may stamp 50 to 500 drawings each year.
