Job Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Process Control & Software Categorization Engineer. Reporting to the Manager Engineering, this position is responsible to support Process Control and Software Categorization functions.
Key Accountabilities
- Assessment of the effect of various control components on loop performance
- Troubleshooting control problems and control loop tuning
- Modeling physical systems
- Documenting analysis of plant dynamics which have been simulated
- Providing advice and maintaining software governance
- Testing and designing instrumentation and control components and control systems
- Assessing Software Categorization in accordance with OPG Governance and CSA standards.
Qualifications
- 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Process or other related Engineering discipline
- Minimum 2 years experience working in a process control/software categorization engineering role
- Relevant experience in nuclear or industrial plant process control systems, (e.g. electrical and control system design, I&C loop components, PID Controllers, control logic, control valves, transmitters, various field instrumentation, wiring, relays, DCS, DCC, PLC, engineering calculations, and level, temperature, pressure, reactivity, turbine control systems).
- Software development experience in languages such as C/C++, assembly or ladder logic.
- Familiarity with software categorization standards (e.g., CSA N290.14, IEC 61508, IEEE 7-4.3.2, or similar).
- Experience with software lifecycle processes: requirements, design, implementation, verification, validation, configuration management, and documentation.
- Experience in nuclear, power generation, or highly regulated environments is highly valued.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Candidate must be a fully licensed engineer in the province of Ontario, or be eligible to be licensed in the Province of Ontario

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full‑time management roles includes pay‑for‑performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
