Data & Analytics Engineer - newmarket

We are looking a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to help design, build, and scale a modern industrial-grade data platform that transforms real-time transactional data into reliable business insights. This role is ideal for a highly technical professional who can combine hands-on data engineering expertise with platform structuring, infrastructure optimization, and rapid delivery in a high-growth environment.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in accelerating the maturity of a scalable, secure, and cost-efficient data ecosystem, supporting the transition from raw data ingestion to trusted analytics assets and actionable intelligence.

This role offers the opportunity to shape a modern, scalable, and strategic data platform from the ground up, directly contributing to the transformation of real-time data into valuable business intelligence through advanced cloud and analytics engineering.

This position is Remote, based in Canada.

Both English and French spoken language are mandatory (bilingual or native)

Responsibilities:

Data Platform Engineering & Development

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and consolidation of transactional and operational data
• Implement and enhance data processing features within Databricks environments
• Build robust, reusable, and high-performance ETL/ELT workflows using Python and PySpark
• Apply Data Vault methodologies to structure reliable, scalable, and audit-ready data models
• Improve data quality, integrity, and reliability across all platform layers

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Industrialization

• Support the architecture, deployment, and continuous improvement of a cloud-native data platform hosted on AWS
• Refactor and optimize Terraform infrastructure for maintainability, scalability, and operational efficiency
• Strengthen platform governance, standardization, and automation practices
• Contribute to infrastructure-as-code best practices and DevOps alignment

Monitoring, Security & Governance

• Implement monitoring frameworks for data pipelines, platform performance, and operational health
• Ensure data security, governance, and compliance standards are integrated into platform design
• Reduce operational risks through improved architecture, standardization, and proactive issue resolution
• Support cost optimization initiatives across cloud and data platform resources

Delivery & Strategic Contribution

• Accelerate delivery of data initiatives while maintaining high standards of reliability and scalability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data engineering efforts with business intelligence goals
• Contribute to the long-term evolution of a profitable, industrialized, and insight-driven data platform

Requirements:

• Strong senior-level experience in Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering
• Expert-level Terraform expertise, including strong experience with modularization and multi-region deployments, with the ability to elevate and improve Terraform best practices within an experienced team
• Hands-on expertise with: Databricks, AWS (cloud architecture and services), Python, PySpark, Data Vault modeling
• Proven experience building and industrializing scalable data platforms
• Strong understanding of data governance, security, and platform standardization
• Experience optimizing platform costs and reducing technical/operational risks
• Ability to rapidly implement solutions in fast-paced, scaling environments
• Strong architectural thinking with a delivery-focused mindset
• Experience working in high-growth or transformation-focused organizations
• Strong background in platform structuring and modernization
• Experience balancing strategic architecture with hands-on execution
• Ability to work independently while collaborating across technical and business teams
