Rate: $50/hr - $65/hr
JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking a Lead Equipment Mechanic to support a mining and mineral exploration company at their Yukon camp site on a 6 month contract. This is a fly in/out position, 4 weeks on with 2 weeks off. The shift is 12 hours per day, 7 days per week while at site. You will be responsible for performing heavy equipment repairs and preventive maintenance while also supporting field-level coordination of maintenance, downtime, and reliability tracking inputs. This role acts as the primary liaison between the maintenance team and the PM for day-to-day maintenance and asset visibility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and camp support assets.
• Coordinate and support field-level capture of maintenance activity data, including repairs performed, parts used, rework, and downtime events.
• Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for maintenance-related reporting inputs into the Maintenance Activity Tracker and Downtime & Reliability Log.
• Track parts usage and flag inventory needs to support the Parts & Inventory Usage View.
• Support operating rhythm activities including status updates and field-level reporting to the PM.
• Identify and escalate recurring equipment failures, reliability concerns, or parts shortages.
• Model safe maintenance practices and reinforce site safety standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Red Seal Certification (Heavy Duty Equipment Technician) or equivalent journeyman credential.
• Demonstrated leadership or lead-hand experience in a maintenance or field environment.
• Experience working extended rotations in remote or camp-based settings.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, 7 days/week for 4-week rotations.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to support field reporting and coordination activities.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Prior experience as a lead mechanic or maintenance lead on a mining, drilling, or construction site.
• Experience with basic field reporting, maintenance logs, or tracker inputs.
• Hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine diagnostic experience.
• Class 1 license.
• First Aid / safety certifications.
