About Us

Aliant Resources is a dedicated provider of IT staffing services, committed to promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, anti-racism, and accessibility in all facets of our operations.

Job Summary

To design, develop, and maintain cloud-based data pipelines, backend services, and analytics workflows that support cyber security reporting, risk insights, and executive and operational decision-making, using hands-on coding, automation, and modern development practices.

To build, enhance, and operationally support scalable data and analytics platforms, working collaboratively across teams to ensure data quality, pipeline resiliency, CI/CD-driven delivery, and reduced long-term reliance on external development and implementation partners.

To configure, extend, and assume technical ownership of cyber risk and governance platforms (e.g., GRC/CSRM-type tools) following core implementation, providing ongoing development, workflow automation, integrations, and operational support while contributing to backlog management and delivery execution.

Major Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of cloud-hosted data pipelines for cyber dashboards, metrics, and risk reporting under senior guidance.
  • Assist with implementing and updating data ingestion and integration patterns as data sources and reporting needs evolve.
  • Contribute to the reliability, performance, and scalability of data pipelines through monitoring, testing, and incremental improvements.
  • Support automated data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reconciliation workflows to ensure consistent data processing.
  • Assist with troubleshooting pipeline failures, data quality issues, and operational incidents, escalating complex issues as required.
  • Support secure file-based and API-driven data ingestion processes, acting as a secondary technical resource for integrations and file operations.
  • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation to support accurate, auditable, and fit-for-purpose reporting outputs.
  • Apply coding and development best practices (version control, testing, documentation) when contributing to scripts, workflows, and automation.
  • Assist with maintaining and supporting production dashboards, including updates, performance tuning, publishing, and operational support.
  • Support the configuration and day-to-day operation of analytics, governance, and workflow platforms (e.g., GRC/CSRM tools), including access controls and compliance requirements.

Key Qualifications

  • Postsecondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience applying data analytics and analytical techniques to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies across complex datasets, including operational, security, or risk-related data.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and supporting data and analytics solutions in modern computing environments, with a strong preference for AWS-based platforms. This includes practical experience with AWS services such as S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, Step Functions, and Workspaces, and the design of scalable ETL pipelines and orchestration workflows.
  • Experience with comparable Azure or Google Cloud services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Functions; GCP BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage) is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data modeling, querying, transformation, and validation, to enable reliable, auditable, and fit-for-purpose reporting and analysis.
  • Proven experience extracting, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources, and collaborating with data owners or subject matter experts to understand data context, quality considerations, and limitations.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining reports, dashboards, and analytical outputs that support strategic, operational, and executive decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of database query languages and analytics or development tools used for data processing, automation, and workflow enablement, including version control systems (e.g., Git) and modern development practices.
  • Experience applying analytics, data engineering, or reporting capabilities within security-aligned, risk-focused, regulatory, or governance contexts is considered an asset.
  • Broad understanding of enterprise information technology environments, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms, tools, and architectures.
  • Exposure to or experience working in security-conscious environments where data integrity, access controls, privacy, and responsible handling of sensitive information are critical.
  • Relevant technical or security-focused certifications—particularly AWS certifications (AWS Certified Data Engineer), with Azure or GCP certifications as nice-to-have—are considered an asset.

Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within transformative, technology-driven programs, adapting to evolving requirements and platforms.
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently with diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, business partners, leadership, and external vendors, to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Strong capability to influence and drive business objectives through effective stakeholder engagement and sound technical judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across all organizational levels.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex or non-routine technical and operational challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to producing accurate, reliable, and auditable outputs.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple initiatives and competing priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, prioritization, and multitasking skills, with the ability to assess trade-offs and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, maintaining professionalism, focus, and sound judgment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a demonstrated willingness to go beyond assigned tasks to ensure successful delivery and operational continuity.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and respond decisively, particularly in security-relevant or time-sensitive situations, where sound judgment and rapid response are essential.
