Hiring Salary Range : $137,700 – $178,200 per year

The Senior Manager, Transmission & Distribution Station Engineering leads multidisciplinary teams across the Tx and Dx station design portfolio, delivering safe, cost‑effective engineering solutions that enable major capital projects across the province.
Job Function and Responsibilities
Support the Director of Engineering and peer managers in implementing the Business Unit’s goals by providing leadership and management direction to a team of specialists and contracted design firms.
Manage, lead and coordinate engineering efforts to develop conceptual solutions for capital construction projects.
Develop long‑term business plans and forecasts based on customer needs, corporate planning, and emerging technology.
Oversee the conceptual engineering team’s delivery of expert design and analysis services, ensuring solutions are ready for detailed design.
Establish the 2–5‑year business plan for the department.
Provide account management, contract administration and resource management.
Conduct engineering design and drawing preparation for conceptual solutions.
Specify major power equipment, support strategic sourcing, and develop tendering and evaluation criteria.
Deliver quality‑control engineering deliverables—including estimates, designs, drawings and reports—according to schedule.
Set clear expectations and performance measures, provide feedback, and recognize achievements.
Manage department performance, monitor work progress and conduct quality assurance of engineering staff.
Lead development and implementation of conceptual designs that improve reliability, performance, and safety of the power system.
Receive engineering estimates and studies requests, assign teams, and coordinate multi‑disciplinary projects.
Ensure alignment of engineering solutions with other disciplines and communicate requirements.
Coordinate with peer managers on project plans, roles, and communication channels.
Document deviations during execution and ensure acceptance testing of vendor facilities.
Monitor engineering work status, analyse progress and issues, and report to senior leadership.
Develop and maintain standard specifications, policies and procedures for power equipment and conceptual design instructions.
Stay abreast of power‑equipment developments, integrate industry best practices and champion changes to standards.
Evaluate emerging technologies and assess suitability for system delivery.
Improve system efficiency and economics through technical reviews and knowledge sharing.
Prepare and monitor short‑ and long‑term budgets.
Conduct special engineering studies and analyses.
Document engineering and construction processes, policies and practices.
Perform root‑cause analysis and failure investigations.
Ensure worker and staff safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Managerial Accountabilities
Manage unit financials and achieve targeted results with accurate oversight.
Build and develop a capable team, evaluating engineering effectiveness and recommending improvements.
Interview, select and assess candidates, conduct performance appraisals, and recommend staffing decisions.
Recruit, develop and maintain staff competence aligned with business objectives.
Lead skills‑training programs to enhance team capabilities.
Monitor resource utilization and identify problem areas.
Advocate acquisition of tools and skills that optimize staff performance.
Ensure deliverables meet policies, strategies and procedures.
Maintain compliance with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements.
Foster a two‑way relationship with subordinates for continuous improvement.
Lead the department to collaborate with peers and clients to achieve goals.
