The Strategy & Corporate Development team at GeorgeWeston Limited (GWL) develops and executes high‑priority initiatives across strategy, M&A, and corporate finance for both the corporate centre and GWL’s operating businesses (Loblaw Companies Limited and Choice Properties). This role focuses on supporting end‑to‑end M&A transaction initiatives and leading cross‑functional projects to drive growth and operational excellence. Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end M&A transaction initiatives – deal evaluation, structuring, financial analysis, modeling, diligence, integration planning, and presentation development. Develop and evaluate strategic plans and projects for operating businesses, including analysis, research, financial and operational modeling, and stakeholder presentations. Manage project teams and mentor junior staff to deliver high‑quality outputs. Act as an internal advisor and thought partner for senior leadership, building strong business relationships. Coordinate and guide external advisors (investment bankers, lawyers, consultants, accountants) to ensure alignment with business objectives. Qualifications
6–8years of applicable experience in Investment Banking, M&A, Private Equity, or Corporate Development. Strong corporate finance knowledge and advanced financial analysis and valuation modeling skills. Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, MBA, or Master’s in Finance; advanced finance designations (CFA, CPA, CBV) considered a plus. Additional experience in Consulting, Strategy, or Business Development is a plus. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities. Demonstrated project‑management abilities and experience managing complex transactions. Desirable industry experience in Retail, Food, or Consumer Goods. Personal Attributes
