Department: Finance Union: Non-Union Position Status: Temporary Full-Time Job Code: NU0362 Grade/Class: NU12 Number of Positions: 1 Rate of Pay: $106,903.33 to $129,942.31 Annually Shift Work Required: No Duties and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director of Treasury and Financial Accounting, Deputy Treasurer, this position will be responsible for the Corporate Accounts Payable function including accounts payable controls and accounting in a de-centralized accounts payable environment that includes management of all aspects of disbursements (excluding payroll) corporate wide including the development, implementation and monitoring of accounts payable policies and procedures; Vendor file management, balancing of accounts payable sub-ledger; existing corporate lease administration; Corporate debt accounting, including the development and ongoing maintenance of the corporate debt management forecast model. The position is also responsible for corporate accounts receivable controls and accounting in a de-centralized billing environment including control of the customer database; Ensuring the balancing of the accounts receivable sub-ledger and the development, implementation and monitoring of corporate accounts receivable policies and procedures; Preparation and review of audit working paper files to support the year-end external audit and any specialized financial audits; The development, implementation and monitoring of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable performance measures reporting; Ensures completion of monthly compliance reviews for corporate business and travel expenses; Responsible for budget development and monitoring for the accounts payable/receivables group; Supervision of a staff of approximately 8 employees in these efforts.
Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. Will perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Must have a Masters degree in Accounting or Finance or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of 4 (four) years progressively responsible experience in a computerized accounting environment with direct experience supervising staff; OR Must have a University degree in Accounting or Finance or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of 6 (six) years progressively responsible experience in a computerized accounting environment with direct experience supervising staff; OR Must have a post secondary school community College diploma in Business Administration (Accounting or Finance) or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and over 10 (ten) years progressively responsible experience in a computerized accounting environment with direct experience supervising staff.
Must have a professional accounting designation (CPA/CA, CPA/CMA, CPA/CGA) or equivalency as recognized by the governing bodies; Must be available to work overtime during peak periods; Must have strong organizational skills; Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work; Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program; Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset.
