Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist to support ongoing quality assurance and testing activities for the Ontario Agricultural Soil Information System (OASIS).
OASIS is a comprehensive solution designed to support the collection, storage, maintenance, and management of Ontario's agricultural soil data. The solution includes a cloud-based core web application built using Java technologies and a field data application utilizing Esri GIS technologies.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on QA expertise across the full software testing lifecycle, working closely with developers, architects, business analysts, project teams, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality, secure, accessible, and reliable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute comprehensive quality assurance and software testing activities throughout the SDLC.
- Perform testing within Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall SDLC environments.
- Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, test cases, test scripts, test execution documentation, and testing reports.
- Conduct hands-on testing of cloud-based applications developed using Java technologies.
- Test and validate applications involving:
- Java
- JSON
- RESTful Web Services
- HTML5
- Identify, document, track, prioritize, and manage software defects throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Validate functional and technical requirements to ensure that developed solutions meet business and technical expectations.
- Support development teams with debugging and troubleshooting activities.
- Assess software quality, functionality, usability, and reliability and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct accessibility testing in compliance with AODA and utilize appropriate accessibility testing tools.
- Utilize QA and testing tools including Azure DevOps and Postman.
- Validate integrations involving APIs and other application services.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts, business stakeholders, and project teams throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Ensure testing activities align with applicable OPS and I&ITS policies, standards, directives, governance, privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements.
- Manage multiple testing priorities and deliverables within established project timelines and milestones.

Mandatory Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate all of the following:
1. QA / SDLC Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing quality assurance and software testing activities.
- Experience working across Agile, Hybrid, and Waterfall SDLC methodologies.
2. Cloud & Java Application Testing
- Hands-on experience testing cloud-based applications developed using Java technologies.
- Experience testing and validating JSON, RESTful Web Services, and HTML5 applications/components.
3. Test Strategy & Test Documentation
- Proven experience developing and executing:
- Test Strategies
- Test Plans
- Test Cases
- Test Scripts
- Test Execution
- Testing/QA Reports and other testing artifacts
4. Defect Management
- Demonstrated experience identifying, documenting, tracking, managing, and reporting software defects throughout the complete testing lifecycle.
5. Requirements Validation & Debugging
- Experience validating business and technical requirements.
- Ability to support debugging and troubleshooting activities.
- Experience contributing to overall software quality, functionality, and usability.
6. Accessibility / AODA
- Hands-on experience conducting accessibility testing in compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
- Experience using accessibility testing tools.

- Working knowledge and hands-on experience with QA/testing tools, including:

- Demonstrated understanding of privacy, security, confidentiality, and information-management requirements.
- Experience working in accordance with Ontario Public Service (OPS) and Information & Information Technology Strategy (I&ITS) policies, standards, directives, and governance requirements.
Desirable Qualifications

- Experience using approved AI-assisted QA and software testing tools to improve testing effectiveness, productivity, quality, and delivery outcomes.
