Job description
Black & McDonald’s Mechanical & Electrical ICI team is growing! If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard‑working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Electrical Estimator is located in Scarborough and typically reports directly to the Chief Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for all aspects of estimating and will ensure strict adherence to B&M policies and procedures relating to the estimating process. The Estimator shall also liaise with customers to ensure continuity of work opportunities and with vendors to maintain competitiveness within the industry. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings and specifications

Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards

Participate in site review, tender review, tender hand-off, project closing and operational/sector meetings

Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors

Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of electrical estimating or construction program

Several years’ experience working in the electrical construction sector

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

10+ years’ experience in estimating electrical ICI construction work, preferably on P3 projects

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Proficient knowledge and understanding of:

Construction scheduling, planning, and execution

Organization and time management

Excellent communications skills

Self‑motivated and able to work with deadlines

Advanced user of:

MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
