Job Title: Application Support Analyst (AS400 / Mainframe / SQL)
Experience: 6–8 Years
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract
Work Model:
24x7 Support (Shift-based, On-call & Weekend Support Required)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Application Support Analyst with strong expertise in AS400, COBOL, and SQL to support critical business applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in production support environments, incident management, and troubleshooting complex application and data issues in a 24x7 support model.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for the Unitrax unitholder/record-keeping system running on IBM i (AS400 / POWER systems)
- Investigate and resolve high-priority incidents within SLA timelines
- Perform defect recreation, analysis, and resolution
- Write and execute ad hoc SQL queries for data analysis and data fixes
- Debug COBOL (ILE) programs with embedded SQL
- Analyze database structures (logical & physical) and optimize queries
- Test and validate:
- Stored Procedures
- Database Functions
- Triggers & Views
- Provide root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive solutions
- Coordinate with onsite, offshore, and client stakeholders
- Support month-end / year-end batch processing activities
- Participate in release management and change deployments
- Monitor application logs, batch jobs, and system interfaces
- Provide on-call support on a rotational basis
- Document issues, resolutions, and system changes
- Recommend enhancements to AS400 applications and COBOL programs
Mandatory Skills
- Strong experience in:
- AS400 / IBM i systems
- COBOL (ILE, Embedded SQL)
- Mainframe technologies (DB2, Admin concepts)
- Oracle SQL (ad hoc query writing, data fixes)
- Hands-on experience in production support (24x7 environments)
- Strong troubleshooting and incident management skills
Good to Have Skills
- Mainframe Enterprise COBOL
- MS SQL Server / MySQL
- Experience with FundSERV systems
- Exposure to batch job scheduling and monitoring tools
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in critical production environments
- Client-facing experience with strong stakeholder management
- Ability to clearly explain issues and solutions step-by-step
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts (24x7 support model)
- Open to weekend support during releases
- Availability for on-call support
- Ability to support critical batch cycles (month-end/year-end)
