Job descriptionCommissioning Manager Location Vancouver, BC | Arizona Rotation 4 weeks on / 1 week off Introduction Brunel is currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support a large-scale mining expansion project. This contract role will play a key leadership position throughout the commissioning and start-up phases, beginning early in project definition and continuing through mechanical completion, commissioning, and handover to operations. The role requires a strong background in mineral processing, capital project delivery, and site-based execution within complex, multi-discipline environments. Responsibilities - Lead the planning, development, and execution of comprehensive commissioning and start-up strategies for major capital projects. - Develop integrated commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and resource forecasts aligned with construction and mechanical completion milestones. - Review P&IDs, design drawings, specifications, and turnover packages to ensure logical system handover and commissioning sequence. - Coordinate closely with EPCM partners, construction teams, vendors, and site operations to support efficient and safe commissioning execution. - Manage and mentor commissioning personnel, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance oversight. - Oversee pre-commissioning, cold and hot commissioning, testing, punch-list management, and post-startup activities. - Review contractor QA/QC documentation and confirm installations meet design and manufacturer requirements prior to commissioning. - Ensure all commissioning activities are documented within project systems and support preparation of final turnover packages. - Support development of commissioning spare parts lists, special tools, and testing equipment requirements. - Maintain strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational readiness throughout commissioning and handover phases. - Collaborate with project leadership to manage interfaces, resolve issues, and deliver project objectives within defined scope, schedule, and cost parameters. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of technical training and field experience. - Minimum 10 years of commissioning and start-up experience on large industrial or mining capital projects (15 years with non-degree pathway). - Proven experience commissioning mineral processing or mining-related facilities. - Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management capabilities. - Solid understanding of construction sequencing, mechanical completion, and commissioning workflows. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency with standard office and project documentation tools. - Willingness to work site-based and travel as required for project execution.
