Job descriptionPosition Overview Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering is seeking an Experienced Structural Engineer for its Temporary Works Group. The role involves designing and reviewing temporary structures and construction methods to support a wide range of construction activities, including bridge erection, demolition, temporary bridge and trestle design, and excavation support.
Location This position can be based at any of the following offices: Oakville, ON; Burnaby, BC; Toronto, ON; Calgary, AB.
Responsibilities
Develop drawings and calculations for temporary works and construction methods, including heavy lift plans, erection procedures, and staging analysis.
Review and perform structural analysis to ensure stability of temporary conditions for bridges, viaducts, buildings, tunnels, and other structures.
Support excavation systems or cofferdams for below-grade construction.
Design temporary bridges, trestles, work platforms, fall protection systems, formwork, and related features.
Perform or review calculations and design drawings according to industry codes, standards, and client criteria.
Ensure quality and accuracy of design deliverables.
Identify design risks and assist with risk mitigation planning.
Assist with project management tasks such as budgets, schedules, quality control, and client communication.
Provide on-site design engineering support, inspections, and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
Qualifications
Accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
8+ years of relevant engineering experience.
Professional Engineer licensure or eligibility in Canada.
Strong knowledge of structural engineering theory and codes.
Proficiency with engineering design software (AutoCAD, BlueBeam, MathCAD, RISA‑3D, etc.).
Experience working in a team setting and excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple project assignments and travel as required.
Ability to work safely in varying climates and conditions.
Benefits Base Compensation: $100,214 – $130,822 (dependent on experience, location, and qualifications).
