Events Manager – Homebuilders Association Vancouver (HAVAN) Full-Time | Hybrid – min. 3 days in office | Office in Surrey, BC Events are held across Metro Vancouver Salary Range $60,000 - $70,000 plus benefits Start date: Immediate

Do you thrive in the energy of event day, love creating memorable experiences from the ground up, and want to work with a high‑performing team that’s shaping the future of homebuilding in Metro Vancouver?

HAVAN

(Homebuilders Association Vancouver) is an association representing 1,100 member companies — from innovative community developers to flooring suppliers — building over 65% of the homes in our region. As a not‑for‑profit association, we connect, educate, and advocate for one of BC’s most important industries. Events are at the heart of how we bring our community together.

We are looking for a mid‑level

Events Manager

to lead a diverse portfolio of B2B and B2C programs.

This is a working manager role, balancing execution with planning and continuous improvement. It suits someone with at least three years of corporate, association, or client‑facing event experience who is ready to take the next step and manage a fast‑paced event calendar with confidence. If you live for the logistics, love a good run‑of‑show, and want your work to matter, read on.

What You’ll Do: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing and Communications, you’ll be the key driver behind planning and executing events ranging from small leadership meetings to large‑scale industry programs.

You’ll work closely with internal team members, vendors, and liaise with a range of stakeholders — from elected officials to member volunteers. This is a hands‑on role, from preparing materials to leading large‑scale event execution with vendors and AV teams. No two days look the same, and that’s just how you like it.

Key Responsibilities

Event Program Management:

Oversee and contribute to strategy, planning, sponsorships, and execution for events, managing a calendar of 20+ programs.

Act as lead point of contact for events, ensuring all deliverables are met and that critical deadlines are upheld.

Ensure that service quality standards and HAVAN’s values are maintained and consistently delivered in all areas of responsibility.

Logistics & Vendor Management:

Coordinate registration, speaker management, tech support, décor, communications, transportation of materials, and on‑site execution.

Seek quotations and hire or work with reliable subcontractors for events such as hotels, caterers, technicians etc., building rapport with vendors.

Work with the Digital Specialist on our CRM‑based registration system (GrowthZone) and event‑related website updates.

Work with program leads on managing contracts, vendors, budgets.

Provide general customer service and support.

Ensure seamless day‑of execution, such as rehearsals and overseeing audio/visual or virtual elements of event programming.

Stakeholder & Sponsor Coordination:

Liaise with sponsors, speakers, volunteers, government contacts, and members.

Budget & Reporting:

Manage event budgets, track expenses, and complete post‑event reporting and performance metrics.

You Are:

An experienced events enthusiast

– You genuinely love the work and have at least 3 years of hands‑on experience in corporate, association, or client‑facing events, managing events end to end.

Detail‑obsessed but big‑picture smart

– You can manage the nitty‑gritty (budgets, timelines, run sheets) and keep your eye on how it all ladder up to bigger goals.

A ‘roll‑up‑your‑sleeves contributor’

– As the events lead, you are the first to jump in to get things done.

A confident leader and collaborator

– Whether it’s working with the onsite hotel banquet team or working cross‑functionally, you bring maturity, calm under pressure, and strong communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise, and respectful direction to team members or contractors to the table. Proactive and able to manage multiple functions and projects while meeting deadlines. Able to manage competing priorities with diplomacy and professionalism.

A problem‑solver at heart

– You take initiative, anticipate challenges and find solutions before they become issues.

Community‑driven

– Comfortable working in a member‑driven, relationship‑focused environment. You understand the power of relationships and love being the connector between people, purpose, and great experiences. As a volunteer‑driven association, HAVAN works alongside members to produce events – from sponsors, on‑site ambassadors, and attendees. You know how to bring everyone together and motivate the team to get the work done.

Other Requirements

Occasional work on evenings and weekends due to events.

As this role requires travel across Metro Vancouver for events, you must have access to a reliable vehicle.

What Success Looks Like

Events delivered on time and on budget

Strong sponsor and member satisfaction

Growth in attendance and engagement

Smooth execution with minimal day‑of issues

Why Join HAVAN?

Real impact

– Your work directly supports professionals building the homes and communities in our region.

Growth mindset

– This isn’t a stepping‑stone job — it’s a role for someone ready to grow and contribute to a bigger vision.

Tight‑knit team

– We’re a small but mighty group who believe in working hard to build top‑tier industry programs, supporting each other, and having fun along the way.

Balance and flexibility

– We know event life is fast‑paced, so we do what we can to support your time and energy.

As a non‑profit, we offer meaningful work, a collaborative culture, and lots of opportunity to grow and lead.

Sound like a great fit? We’d love to hear how you’d bring your spark to HAVAN events. Apply with your resume and a cover letter about why you love event management and what you’re looking for next in your career. Send to info@havan.ca with 'Event Manager' in the Subject.

Candidate interviews will occur during the application period, which will remain open until final candidates are identified.
