Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring university compliance with FIPPA, and other privacy legislation (including GDPR and other applicable developments), copyright and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Coordinate and oversee the investigation and resolution of all access to information and privacy requests and complaints for the University. Lead and ensure effective implementation of the university's copyright compliance program. Maintain an effective records and information management (RIM) program. Works closely with partners, including the Chief Information Security Officer, to ensure risk mitigation, University protection and appropriate compliance within the evolving legal and regulatory landscape.
Education:
Bachelor's degree required. Additional qualifications such as privacy, copyright, anti-spam, IT, records management, or business, law.
Experience:
Four years' management experience.
Demonstrated ability to initiate programs, manage change and overcome organizational barriers.
Experience with database development.
Experience with project management and directing work groups.
Skills:
Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of university or government practice for records management including freedom of information, privacy protection and copyright, CASL and RIM.
General knowledge of institutional IT systems and architecture.
