Job description
Job Title: Senior Estimator – ICI Location: Kelowna, British Columbia (On-site) Industry: ICI Construction Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Company: Confidential Client (Represented by Skyline Recruitment) Salary Range: $130k to $160k About the Opportunity Skyline Recruitment is sourcing a Senior Estimator – ICI for a Kelowna-based general contractor with over half a century of building experience that is expanding their ICI presence into the Thompson-Okanagan region. You’ll work directly with the Estimating Manager and collaborate with operations and development teams to bring clarity to projects before they break ground. You won’t just be pricing work. You’ll be shaping how it’s pursued, structured, and ultimately won. Job Details - Mixed portfolio of ICI projects. - Exposure to CM, Design-Build, Lump Sum, and IPD delivery models. - Projects ranging from early-stage conceptual through to competitive tender. What You’ll Be Doing - Own full-cycle estimating from conceptual budgets through to bid submission. - Lead subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid solicitation, and leveling. - Build detailed quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and complete cost models. - Working with the Project Management team, you will help develop tight scopes of work that eliminate ambiguity during execution. - Sit in client meetings and project interviews to represent the numbers with confidence. - Collaborate with consultants, engineers, and ownership groups to refine pricing strategies. - Identify cost-saving opportunities through alternate designs, materials, and methodologies. - Build and maintain internal cost databases and productivity benchmarks. - Prepare proposals and ensure submissions are accurate, competitive, and on time. - Assess and mitigate risk before it shows up in the field. - Support and mentor junior estimators to raise the overall standard of the team. What We’re Looking For - 10+ years of estimating experience within the Industrial, Commercial and Institutional world. - Experience in various project delivery models including construction management, design-build, lump sum, and integrated project delivery (IPD). - Ability to price from both early-stage concepts and fully developed drawings. - Strong understanding of multiple contract types and how risk shifts across each. - Proven ability to manage multiple tenders without losing control of detail. - Comfortable leading discussions with clients, consultants, and internal teams. - Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and sequencing. - Up-to-date knowledge of the BC Building Codes. - Experience building scopes, reviewing drawings, and identifying gaps early. - Strong communication skills with the ability to defend numbers when challenged. - Exposure to scheduling and logistics planning is an asset. - Post-secondary education in Construction, Engineering, or related discipline is preferred. Tools & Systems - Proficient with estimating and takeoff software including Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite. - Comfortable navigating multiple platforms to manage data, bids, and workflows efficiently.
