Job descriptionInstrumentation Technician – Heavy Industrial / Bulk Equipment Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to support installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems within heavy industrial environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with bulk material handling equipment and process systems in sectors such as mining, cement, forestry, or similar. Key Responsibilities - Install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation and control systems - Troubleshoot and repair sensors, transmitters, control valves, analyzers, and related equipment - Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on instrumentation systems - Interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical drawings - Support commissioning, start-up, and system optimization activities - Work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues - Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements - Document maintenance activities, calibrations, and system changes Qualifications & Experience - 5+ years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in a heavy industrial environment - Must hold a valid Class C license (or provincial equivalent) - Journeyperson Instrumentation and Control Technician Red Seal certification or equivalent Canadian journeyperson certification with Interprovincial Red Seal - ARC Flash training/certification is considered an asset - Experience working with heavy bulk equipment such as: Conveyors, Crushers, Pumps and slurry systems, and Material handling systems - Experience in mining, cement, forestry, or similar heavy industrial environments is strongly preferred - Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in industrial instrumentation systems - Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation is an asset - Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and drawings Compensation & Schedule - Union wage: $44.86/hour - Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Core Competencies - Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude - Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability - Ability to work independently and within a team environment - Strong safety mindset and adherence to procedures - Effective communication skills
